APEX, N.C. (July 24, 2007) – Computational Engineering International (CEI) announced today that EnSight DR now offers users the flexibility of using a Windows-based PC to interact with and control distributed rendering on a UNIX cluster. EnSight is an industry-leading extreme visualization tool designed for the scientific and engineering community, and is used by researchers worldwide in a wide variety of industries and research areas.
“In response to user requests, we’ve given customers more choice in how they use and allocate their computer resources, by giving them the convenient option of using a Windows-based computer—such as a typical laptop—both to control a UNIX rendering cluster and view rendering results,” said Randall Frank, a senior developer at CEI.
The new capability is available both in EnSight DR’s compositing mode, where a cluster renders a single image, and in replicated mode, where a cluster creates tiled images suitable for driving large, multi-panel displays. The feature is now available in EnSight DR version 8.2.5.
