AMTEC RELEASES TECPLOT VERSION 10
New features let Tecplot users create the exact plot they want
BELLEVUE, WA. -- Amtec Engineering, Inc., a data visualization software developer, today announced the release of Tecplot 10. Tecplot is technical plotting software with extensive XY, 2- and 3-D capabilities for visualizing data from analyses, simulations and experiments. Tecplot 10 marks a major milestone for Amtec, which first released Tecplot in 1988.
The Version 10 release includes new capabilities in three key areas: plotting tools, data management, and the user interface. These enhancements help give Tecplot users complete control to explore, analyze and communicate their results. This flexibility is the key differentiator between Tecplot and competing data visualization products, which restrict or limit the options users have to create the exact plot that they want.
New Plotting Tools
New multiple contour variable options in Tecplot 10 enable users to view and analyze several variables at once. Users can assign different contour variables to different regions of data or display multiple contours for a specific region.
Other new plotting capabilities include polar plots, specular highlighting, RGB color flooding, 3-D scatter symbols and the ability to import image files.
When combined with Tecplot's already powerful suite of plotting options, these new capabilities support the goal of Amtec's Tecplot 10 -- give users complete control of how they look at their data.
New Data Management Options
Data Journaling is a new Tecplot 10 feature. The data journal records plotting alterations in Tecplot layout files and applies them when a file is reopened. This allows users to manipulate their data and return to a specific configuration without having to write a new data file. "Data files are growing in size and complexity," said Mike Peery, Amtec's president and co-founder. "Users want the ability to perform calculations on their data and save a plot configuration without having to generate additional data files. Data journaling saves time and computing resources."
Additional data management improvements include the ability to read and display cell-centered data, options to attach auxiliary information to data files, and variable and node map sharing.
Interface Improvements
"Undo" options have been added for style, data and view changes in Tecplot 10. Together with the new data journal capability, users now have more freedom to explore and analyze their data without hesitation.
Tecplot is Amtec's versatile plotting and data analysis software. Its general technical plotting and high-end 3-D visualization capabilities create superb on-screen graphics and presentation-quality output. Tecplot is the ideal tool for engineers and scientists working with large data sets created by numerical simulation software, data from analysis and testing, and those seeking a one-stop-shop for data visualization.
Available for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP, Mac OS X, Linux, and most UNIX workstations, Tecplot 10 prices start at $1,600 in the U.S.A.
About Amtec Engineering
Founded in 1981, Amtec delivers visualization software for engineers and scientists to analyze, discover, and communicate results. In 1988 Amtec launched Tecplot, the company's first software product for the scientific visualization market. Since then, Amtec has been applying and influencing the latest advances in plotting capabilities, and Tecplot has become the visualization tool of choice for over 30,000 engineers and scientists around the world.
