Blue Ridge Numerics Inc. announces that it has been named to Deloitte & Touche’s Technology Fast 50 Program for Virginia, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the area by Deloitte & Touche. Rankings are based on the percentage of growth in fiscal year revenues over five years, from 1998-2002.
Blue Ridge Numerics has grown its operating revenues over the past five years by 415% while other computer-aided engineering software companies have struggled to sustain even modest growth. The company’s success is attributed directly to the increasing popularity of CFdesign, its flagship software product.
CFdesign is virtual prototyping software that saves companies money and time by reducing the amount of wind tunnel and flow bench testing necessary to validate new designs. It enables product development engineers to rapidly simulate the flow of any gas or liquid over or through product designs using native 3D models built in leading mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) systems, including Autodesk Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, and three systems from EDS: I-DEAS, Solid Edge, and Unigraphics. The software also simulates the transfer of heat (conduction, convection, and radiation), allowing engineers to alleviate worries of products overheating in the field, one of the primary causes of product failure and warranty exposure.
By reducing reliance on traditional physical prototyping and test methods, CFdesign customers report projects are completed 70% faster and department-level expenses are reduced by 65%.
“Our phenomenal growth rate is further evidence of the growing acceptance among product development companies that they can design and build better products faster and less expensively when they use CFdesign to prove out new designs while still on the digital drawing board,” says Ed Williams, president of Blue Ridge Numerics Inc.
Industries Using CFdesign CFdesign is currently used by innovators in virtually every industry including aerospace, appliances, automotive, computer systems, electronics, HVAC systems, industrial flow control, medical, military defense, processing (food, chemical and materials), petroleum, power generation, and telecommunications.
Companies Using CFdesign Blue Ridge Numerics’ customer list includes industry leaders such as BAE Systems, Bioject, Bristol Compressors, BWD Turbines, Canon, Cummins Engine, Delta Faucet, Hitachi, Honda, Ingersoll-Rand, Lockheed-Martin, Moen, MTI MicroFuel Cells, Norgren, Northrop Grumman, Respironics, Siemens, Sikorsky Aircraft, Spalding Sports, Symbol Technologies, and US Filter.
Announcement of Virginia Fast 50 Rankings The rankings of the regional Technology Fast 50 will be announced on September 25th at an awards ceremony at the Spy Museum at 800 F Street NW, Washington, D.C. Winners of the 20 regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the U.S. and Canada are automatically entered in Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America’s top 500 fastest growing technology companies.
About Blue Ridge Numerics Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Charlottesville, VA, Blue Ridge Numerics Inc. is a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software company whose mission is to empower engineers and designers with tools to simulate fluid flow and heat transfer using 3D MCAD models so they can see how design concepts will perform under complex, real-world conditions early in the design cycle.
