Dr Darrin Stephens will deliver this two-day OpenFOAM course at the The University of Queensland, Gardens Point Campus, Brisbane. The training is designed to enable CFD practitioners to start using OpenFOAM for practical computations. The methodology employed consists of a series of lectures that provide a general understanding of OpenFOAM topics followed by hands-on work.

Day 1

Introduction Overview of Linux commands OpenFOAM: A library for Scientific Computing Mesh generation, conversion and set-up: importing Fluent meshes, Material properties, initial and boundary conditions, Running the solver, Hand-on examples.

Day 2

Finite Volume Discretisation: theoretical base of OpenFOAM, Field initialisation, post-processing and field probes, Hands-on examples, Mesh generation with Pointwise, Turbulence models and boundary conditions, Using OpenFOAM in parallel.

A hard copy of the training notes will be provided together with a USB stick with a working copy of the OpenFOAM and workshop files from the course.
