In the last decade vehicle cooling systems have evolved into complex networks designed to efficiently balanced heat transfer between the powertrain and the vehicle. Today, a modern vehicle thermal management systems (VTMS) must coordinate the thermal environments of the underhood, powertrain cooling system and the passenger compartment, with the goal of optimizing performance and customer comfort. As emissions standards become more stringent worldwide and pressure grows to increase vehicle fuel economy, breakthroughs in vehicle thermal management are becoming even more critical.
AVL offers an advanced analysis toolchain for VTMS from 1D to high-end 3D CFD solutions - AVL FIRE and AVL SWIFT. Therefore all the following issues can be addressed and will be discussed at the conference on July 30th, 2003 in Plymouth, Michigan:
- Complete integrated VTMS toolchains
- Engine performance and heat rejection
- Exhaust gas after-treatment
- Passenger comfort, de-icing and de-fogging
- Optimization techniques
