The 6th Open Source CFD International Conference 2012 took place in the Olympic city of London, UK on the 29th & 30th October. The conference attracted experts from academia and industry who shared the latest research in open source CFD. Industry segments were represented by Oil & Gas, Steelmaking, Automotive, Motorsport, IT, Chemical, Tobacco Industry, Defence and Security, Renewable Energy and Consulting Engineering.
With design optimisation being a hot topic for discussion in CFD, delegates were anticipating the keynote provided by Prof. Giannakoglou of NTUA, on "Continuous Adjoint Methods in Shape, Topology, Flow-Control and Robust Optimization". His presentation opened a two day packed agenda with topics ranging from automotive aerodynamics and combustion to biomedicals and GPL law. During the separate poster session, attendees were able to review the displayed research and speak with the presenters, offering a better understanding of scientific advances in a more intimate environment.
This year, the conference host ICON and partner Dacolt offered post-conference programming and combustion training courses, further maximising educational opportunities for attendees.
