Flow Science, Inc. announced today that the New York Power Authority (NYPA) has chosen FLOW-3D as its simulation software for studying water flows at its various hydropower facilities in New York State. NYPA intends to use this software extensively to enhance its modeling capabilities for its Niagara Power Project and, in due course, expand its use to its other projects and facilities.
NYPA engineers selected FLOW-3D based on its longstanding reputation for producing highly-accurate results for modeling free-surface flows and its ability to predict a large variety of hydraulic scenarios.
"We’re looking forward to helping the Authority use FLOW-3D to assess safety conditions and propose new hydraulic designs with greater certainty," commented David Souders, VP of Sales, Marketing and Customer Support.
The NYPA is America's largest state power organization, with 17 generating facilities and more than 1,400 circuit-miles of transmission lines that produce the power to help sustain hundreds of thousands of jobs statewide. NYPA is a national leader in promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable-fuel and clean-energy technologies. They can be found on the internet at http://www.nypa.gov/.
Flow Science, Inc. is a privately-held software company specializing in transient, free-surface CFD modeling software for industrial and scientific applications worldwide.
