Computational Engineering International (CEI), developer of Extreme Simulation Software, is a proud to announce Darin McKinnis’ presence at the 2006 Japanese EnSight Forum. Darin is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Computational Engineering International (CEI) and has worked at CEI since 2001. Mr. McKinnis will deliver a presentation: “CEI visualization software technology especially EnSight”. This presentation will include information on EnSight Distributed Rendering (DR), EnSight 8.2’s new features including python, enhanced ease of use for cluster parallel post-processing, added realism provided by textures, ray-tracing and light sources, enhanced presentation features such as TrueType Fonts and 3D arrows. 3D viewers EnLiten and Reveal will also be discussed as well as video editing and playback via EnVideo, EnVe and the plug-in twins for QuickTime and DirectShow architectures. Mr. McKinnis will describe examples of post-processing massive terascale-sized models by customers such as Los Alamos National Laboratories and finish his presentation by pointing out the exciting, new directions CEI is taking including Volume Rendering, integrated meshing and pre-processing and post-processing, web-based tools, medical imaging, CAD interfacing and custom vertical applications.
Prior to joining CEI Darin served in technical support and pre-sales roles at MSC.Software for several years working primarily with MSC.Dytran and MSC.Patran. Before that Darin was a pyrotechnics engineer (ejection seats, landing gear, parachutes, explosive bolts) for NASA's Johnson Space Center. At NASA Darin worked on the Space Shuttle program and Space Station Crew Return Vehicle project. Darin received his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Darin lived in Japan for 2 years, in 1983-1985 as a high-school student of Canadian Academy of Kobe, Japan where he lived with his family in Mikage-Yamate. His father was a liaison engineer for Ford Motor Company and Mazda (Toyo Kyogo) in Hiroshima. Sadly, Darin has forgotten most of his Japanese language from those 2 years, so please forgive his lack of Japanese language skills. Besides he learned Japanese with Kansai-ben so it would be hard to understand him even back in 1985.
The 2006 Japan EnSight Forum will be held October 27th at Time 24 in Tokyo, Japan. For more information, please visit CEI’s website: http://www.ensight.com/ensight-forum-japan.html.
