Call for declaration of interest in the Virtual Intracranial Stenting Challenge 2006 (VISC06)
The VISC06 is an international challenge involving blood flow simulation in cerebral arteries in the presence of intracranial stents. The goal of this challenge is to compare state-of-the-art numerical approaches in a far from trivial modelling problem of biomedical engineering and to illustrate the ability of academic groups and companies leader in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in providing a description of changes in blood flow patterns for a given stent design.
The VISC06 has been officially presented in occasion of the European Society of NeuroRadiology and 3rd IntraCranial Stent (ESNR/ICS) meeting 2006, held in Geneva, Switzerland, September 13th-16th, 2006.
The challenge will be subjected to a specific timeline that will close with a dedicated session in occasion of the 4th IntraCranial Stent 2007 (ICS07) meeting to be held in Kyoto, Japan, April 18th-20th 2007.
All research scientists working in the field of haemodynamics modeling, companies leader in stent manufacturing and institutions interested in participating or sponsoring the challenge are kindly invited to show their interest and provide feedback to the organizing committee by October 15th 2006.
A detailed documentation is available for your evaluation. This includes an application form to be filled and returned by the participants or interested institutions. To know more about the VISC06 and recieve the full VISC06 documentation please contact:

Yours Sincerely,
The VISC06 committee
