NUMECA International and the Technical University of Darmstadt jointly organize an International Workshop on Advanced Measurement Techniques and Computational Methods for Premixed and Partially Premixed Combustion. The workshop is organized in the framework of the Marie Curie COMBINA project and is financially supported by the European Commission (FP7). The Workshop is organized in conjunction with the Seventh Mediterranean Combustion Symposium (MCS-7).

Aim of the workshop
The workshop aims at providing an opportunity for researchers and engineers to present the state-of-the-art in experimental methods and numerical modelling techniques, assess model performance and their uncertainties, and discuss new challenges and developments. Comparisons of state-of-the-art models on three different, representative test cases will be an essential part of the workshop. Invited lectures will be held by leading researchers and will provide a perspective of the experimental and numerical techniques as well as phenomena encountered in premixed and partially premixed, turbulent combustion processes.
Scope of the workshop:
* Presentation of experimental and numerical results of the following test cases (TC): - TC 1: Premixed TECFLAM burner - TC 2: TU Darmstadt’s stratified burner - TC 3: DLR Stuttgart’s premixed model combustor * New experimental techniques, as well as evaluation of accuracy and uncertainties of advanced experimental methods for premixed and partially premixed combustion * Assessment of reliability and domain of application of numerical and physical models for premixed and partially premixed combustion
Invited speakers:
* Prof. W. Jones (Imperial College, UK) will give a key note lecture on advanced combustion modelling methods * Dr. R. Barlow (Sandia National Laboratories, USA) will give a keynote lecture on advanced and innovative experimental techniques for combustion * Dr. W. Krebs (Siemens PG, Germany) will give a presentation on current and future industrial requirements for the design and analysis of combustors
Call for participation
Scientists, engineers and professionals from the combustion research community or combustor manufacturing industry are encouraged to participate in this workshop
Venue & Date:
The workshop will take place in the Chia Laguna Resort, Domus de Maria, Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy on Saturday and Sunday, 10-11 September 2011
