FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IcePro 3.1 Is Released Bringing Major Enhancements to Fluent's IcepakŪ Thermal Modeling Software for Pro/EngineerŪ Users
Lebanon, NH, October 30, 2002, Fluent Inc., the world leader in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, announces the release of IcePro 3.1, its Pro/Engineer-to-Icepak interface. The interface builds on the successful integration of CAD software and Icepak thermal modeling software. With the release of IcePro 3.1, Pro/Engineer geometry and materials are seamlessly available to Icepak.
"This release is a major advance in the CAD integration paradigm introduced in the previous versions of the interface. Using a few configuration parameters, the user can export much of the model automatically. Icepak can also be started directly from within Pro/Engineer to access the newly exported model," says Icepak Product Manager, Dr. Rajesh Nair.
In addition to the capabilities available previously, the new interface also allows the user to automatically decompose complex geometries into prismatic shapes. All of the manual features are still available.
New Interface Reduces Transfer Time
IcePro 3.1 allows the user to export protrusion features and cut features on boundaries automatically to Icepak. Complex shapes can be decomposed automatically for export into Icepak. Simplification, the process of simplifying a model to ignore small geometry features, while including the larger thermally relevant features, has been made extremely easy, and thus dramatically reducing transfer time.
Importing Information
A new optional feature allows the Pro/Engineer assembly tree to be replicated in Icepak. The hierarchy of information is maintained for the geometric shapes that are exported to Icepak. The interface also applies sensible object recognition, as when recognizing a pattern of fins to be modeled as a heatsink object, or modeling a pattern of holes or cutouts as a vent or planar resistance.
Availability
IcePro 3.1 is now available for Icepak users worldwide from Fluent Inc. for Windows NT/Windows 2000, HPUX and Solaris platforms only, for an annual license fee of $2,500. Visit www.icepak.com for a complete listing of worldwide offices and distributors.
About Fluent
Fluent is the world's largest provider of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and consulting services. Fluent's software is used for simulation, visualization, and prediction of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, and chemical reactions. It is a vital part of the computer-aided engineering (CAE) process for companies around the world and in almost every manufacturing industry. Using Fluent's software, product development, design and research engineers build virtual prototypes and simulate the performance of proposed and existing designs, which helps them to optimize, troubleshoot, scale-up, and retrofit. Use of CFD software reduces time-to-market by reducing the need for costly physical testing and prototyping.
Fluent's corporate headquarters are located in Lebanon, New Hampshire, USA, with offices in Belgium, England, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan and Sweden. Its CFD software is also available around the world through joint ventures, partnerships, and distributors in Korea,Australia, Brazil, China, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Middle East, and most European countries.
