Second M.I.T. Conference on Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics:
To bring together researchers and practitioners from around the world to assess the latest frontiers of high performance computational fluid and solid mechanics.
Description:
Background
The First M.I.T. Conference on Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics was held at M.I.T. in June 2001, and was a most valuable and unique event. For details on this Conference, see
http://www.firstmitconference.org
and for the Proceedings of this Conference, see

The Second M.I.T. Conference on Computational Fluid and Sold Mechanics will be held in the same spirit as the First Conference, with the same objectives and mission.
Objectives
To bring together researchers and practitioners from around the world to assess the latest frontiers of high performance computing, and to set important directions for further research and development. The following broad areas will be addressed:
The focus will be on the state of the art of the numerical procedures used, software development and industrial usage.
The specific aims of the Conference are:
The objectives of the Conference are expressed in more detail in the Preface of the Proceedings of the First Conference.
Mission of the Conferences
The M.I.T. Conference Series on Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics was created with the mission
“To bring together Industry and Academia and To nurture the next generation in computational mechanics”
This mission is pursued by having the top researchers in the world, from Industry and Academia, attend the Conferences, by charging no registration fee to any student from any University, by offering the Conference Fellowships to about one hundred young researchers from any part of the world, and by conducting the Conferences at a premier academic institution, M.I.T. The Conferences therefore provide a unique setting for most valuable interactions between junior and senior researchers from Industry and Academia, and an excellent environment for young researchers to develop their visions for teaching and research in the field.
