At “COE Your Way: 2005 Industry Workshop – Automotive” and “COE Your Way: 2005 Industry Workshop - Aerospace,” CD-adapco will demonstrate how STAR-CAT5 can help CATIA V5 users speed product development, cut costs and improve product design with our PLM-embedded flow simulation tool.
With STAR-CAT5, CAE flow and thermal simulation functionality is provided from within the CATIA environment. This intuitive approach to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) means that even users with no prior CFD know-how are able to quickly obtain industrial strength flow simulation results. Based on the technology behind the industry leading STAR-CD and STAR-CCM+, STAR-CAT5 is a gateway to the most comprehensive flow simulation tools in the world. Meshing is accomplished at the click of a button. Since the mesh is created directly from the original CAD model, no export is necessary and there is no need to clean any CAD. The boundary conditions and mesh parameters are stored within the CAD model, readily accessible to downstream users. Design changes, made in response to the CFD results or otherwise, are reflected in the CFD model immediately. Solutions are updated at the click of a button without additional user intervention.
STAR-CAT5 uses CD-adapco’s revolutionary polyhedral meshing technology, proven to be up to 10 times faster than traditional tetrahedral meshing techniques, while delivering greater accuracy. STAR-CAT5 creates meshes specifically designed for flow simulation.
