Allen Lin of the National Taiwan University has won Flow Science’s 2nd 30th Anniversary Simulation Contest. His winning entry, Modeling Local Bridge Scour during Flood Event, is featured as the application note in the Spring 2010 Newsletter. Allen’s entry won for its clear problem statement, two-step validation of scale experimental results (first, quantitatively, of free-surface profile, then, qualitatively, of sediment scour profile), and excellent inclusion, explanation, and presentation of model results, experimental data, and site and lab photographs. In addition to being featured in the Newsletter, Allen also won an iPod Touch. Congratulations, Allen!
