During this one hour online session we will demonstrate how flow modeling software can be used to complement your organization's existing methods and tools in order to meet the demanding needs of naval/ocean engineering applications.
Dr. Shin Hyung Rhee, a fluid dynamics specialist in marine applications, will discuss complex engineering challenges such as hydrodynamics of floating/underwater vessels, aerodynamics of structures above the water surface, fully non-linear free-surface waves, vortex-induced vibration, and free-surface flow analysis of offshore structures. Dr. Rhee will showcase two specific examples in detail: flow around a cylindrical structure vertically piercing the free-surface and unsteady flow around a 3D blunt cylindrical body. By the end of the webinar, you will have a strong understanding of the benefits gained from using flow modeling in tandem with the other analysis tools in your arsenal. Attendees need not have a background in or prior knowledge of flow modeling.
About your instructor:
Shin Hyung Rhee, PhD, Lead Consulting Engineer, Space, Defense & Marine Industries, Fluent Inc. Dr. Rhee joined the Fluent team in July of 2001. At Fluent, he is involved in CFD projects for various marine applications. He earned his bachelor and master of science degrees from the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at Seoul National University in Korea, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa.
