IcePro 3.0 Is Released Bringing Major Enhancements to Fluent's IcepakŪ Thermal Modeling Software
April 29, 2002, Fluent Inc., the world leader in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, announces the release of IcePro 3.0, its Pro/EngineerŪ-to-Icepak interface. The interface builds on its successful integration of CAD software with the thermal modeling software Icepak.
"This release is an advance in the CAD integration paradigm introduced in the previous versions of the interface. By allowing the user to use simplification tools available in Pro/Engineer itself, the time required to get thermal models from CAD systems is reduced dramatically. The philosophy of the integrated Pro/Engineer CAD interface is to take advantage of design engineers' expertise in using Pro/Engineer to define the thermal model," says Icepak Product Manager, Dr. Rajesh Nair.
The IcePro user can take advantage of many of Pro/Engineer's CAD and database features, such as single instance exporting of repetitive features. The interface allows the user to load an assembly, and export specific parts or sub-assemblies to Icepak. The export mechanism also allows the user to capture non-geometric information.
New Interface Reduces Transfer Time IcePro 3.0 contains features that significantly reduce the time to transfer a CAD model from Pro/Engineer to Icepak. Users now have the capability to select fans, openings, vents, and other two-dimensional objects so there is no need to generate virtual surfaces to extract a two dimensional shape(s).
Importing Information Made Easier A new feature allows for the direct import into Icepak of any material information from the Pro/Engineer model. This eliminates a significant amount of time spent during the model building process of larger systems that can contain hundreds of components and sub-components.
Selection Procedures Improved Further improvements include an easier selection procedure for cylinders, and enhancements in polygonal block selection. A new list manager utility is provided that allows objects to be tracked easier. The ability to export assembly information from the Pro/Engineer model to Icepak has also been added.
Availability IcePro 3.0 is now available from Fluent Inc for Windows NT/Windows 2000 platforms only, for Icepak users worldwide for an annual license fee of $2,500. The product will be made available on UNIX platforms at a later date. Visit the Icepak web site (http://www.icepak.com/) and the Fluent web site (http://www.fluent.com/) for a listing of worldwide offices and distributors.
About Fluent Fluent is the world's largest provider of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and consulting services. Fluent's software is used for simulation, visualization, and prediction of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, and chemical reactions. It is a vital part of the computer-aided engineering (CAE) process for companies around the world and in almost every manufacturing industry. Using Fluent's software, product development, design and research engineers build virtual prototypes and simulate the performance of proposed and existing designs, which helps them to optimize, troubleshoot, scale-up, and retrofit. Use of CFD software reduces time-to-market by reducing the need for costly physical testing and prototyping.
Fluent's corporate headquarters are located in Lebanon, New Hampshire, USA. Fluent's European headquarters are located in Sheffield, England, with local offices in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden. Fluent's Asia Pacific headquarters are located in Tokyo, Japan. Its CFD software is also available around the world through joint ventures, partnerships, and distributors in Korea, Australia, Brazil, China, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Middle East, and most European countries.
