Nika GmbH Launched EFD.PRO for Pro/Engineer® Wildfire at 2005 PTC/User Conference
Company Showcases Fully Integrated Software and Offers Special Pricing at Booth Number 418
Frankfurt am Main, June 6, 2005 – NIKA GmbH, the leading provider of fluid flow and heat transfer simulation software for engineers, unveiled its latest product, EFD.Pro, at the 2005 PTC/User Conference in Orlando, Florida. EFD.Pro is the first fully integrated Engineering Fluid Dynamics software for Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire. The seamless interface enables users to create designs with Pro/ENGINEER and then immediately analyze and optimize them – without translating any data and within the familiar Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire environment.
“We are especially proud to have been able to successfully apply NIKA’s proprietary Direct-CAD-to-CFD technology to EFD.Pro for Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire”, stated Roland Feldhinkel, the managing director at NIKA. “This technology allows the direct use of mechanical CAD data for fluid flow simulation without modelling the computational domains as extra parts for mesh generation. Therefore, we can maintain real CAD associativity of the simulation data – an absolute prerequisite for PLM-enabled simulations. This is a unique productivity factor for fluid flow analysis within Pro/ENGINEER using EFD.Pro.”
EFD.Pro offers analysis of compressible and incompressible liquids and gases, laminar and turbulent flows, heat transfer and species transport for steady-state and transient flow regimes as well as numerous other sophisticated physical models. It can be used for the development and optimization of various products such as automotive parts, computer housings, valves and regulators within a shorter time frame and with better quality.
EFD.Pro Technical Overview
NIKA’s Engineering Fluid Dynamics (EFD) technology forms the basis for EFD.Pro architecture. EFD is a radically different approach from Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). While based on the same mathematical foundation as CFD programs, EFD programs are significantly easier to use. The following key EFD technologies can be found in EFD.Pro:
• Full integration of model definition, analysis and result visualization with Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire allows users to streamline their design process by being able to create and analyze models immediately without any data translation. The software is also fully integrated into the Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire Feature Tree Conception. • Direct use of Pro/ENGINEER parts and assemblies without separate modelling of the flow domains (Direct-CAD-to-CFD) enables users to drastically reduce the amount of time required for analysis preparation. • Use of Pro/ENGINEER parameters and Family Tables enables efficient what-if design studies. • Automatic generation of high-quality, optimized computational grids helps increase analysis accuracy and shorten the solution time.
• Reliable physical model calculation helps speed the solution of complex fluid flow phenomena. • Availability of robust solution algorithms make it easy to use the software and obtain accurate results without requiring expert knowledge in mathematics. • Easy to use interface allows for a steep learning curve and efficient simulation.
EFD.Pro also features a powerful and integrated postprocessor which offers comprehensive visualization, valuation and documentation capabilities for simulation results. The three-dimensional visualization of the flow phenomena is done directly in the graphics window of Pro/ENGINEER using the original CAD model. Numerous functions using tables, graphs and reports in MS Office offer an easy numerical valuation of the results.
EFD.Pro is available for immediate shipment and is showcased in booth number 418 at the 2005 PTC/User Conference from June 5 through 8th in Orlando, Florida. Show attendees can also learn more about EFD in a one hour customer presentation about its application in day-to-day engineering environments on Tuesday, June 7, at 3:15 – 4:15 p.m.
