Increased Market Need for Analysis Software Drives Investment Decision

Frankfurt am Main, May 19, 2005 – NIKA GmbH, the leading provider of fluid flow and heat transfer simulation software for engineers, has received € 750,000 (about $ 950,000) in capital investment from Kozo Keikaku Engineering Inc. (KKE) to further expand its family of Engineering Fluid Dynamics (EFD) products. Based on the principles of EFD, NIKA’s products offer unsurpassed ease-of-use, design and analysis power to the global engineering community. Increased market demand in Asia-Pacific for more powerful thermal analysis products drove the investment decision.

“Global pressure for shortening the time to market necessitates the adoption of fluid flow and thermal analysis programs which are easy-to-use, accurate, powerful and affordable for designers” said Roland Feldhinkel, managing director at NIKA. “Thanks to KKE’s efforts, our EFD philosophy and products have been embraced by major companies such as Hitachi, Mitsubishi and Toshiba. To further fuel their growing market needs, we will use the funds to accelerate the development of new user-friendly products and sponsor new marketing initiatives around Asia-Pacific.”

The two companies have enjoyed a close working relationship since KKE became the master-distributor for NIKA in Japan in 2000. KKE further expanded the relationship in 2004 when it became the master distributor for all Asia-Pacific regions and subsequently built sales channels in China, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and India. The company now accounts for one third of NIKA’s worldwide sales.

NIKA’s products are mainly used for the development and optimization of various products such as automotive parts, computer housings, switching units, electronic devices, HVAC systems, valves and regulators, medical equipment, in addition to the building and fire protection industries. COSMOSFloWorks offers a single-window integration with SolidWorks as well as powerful analysis and result visualization capabilities. EFD.Lab includes a fully integrated solid modeler that also serves as a preprocessor for reading and preparing geometry created in leading desktop design packages such as UG, SolidEdge, SolidWorks and Pro/E as well as a postprocessor for results visualization. EFD.V5 offers a seamless integration between Dassault Systèmes’ CATIA V5 and NIKA’s EFD analysis technology. Since all products allow the use of CAD geometry directly without modeling a separate domain of the flow space, and offer fully automatic mesh generation as well as solver convergence controls, users can easily take advantage of fully integrated flow simulation within the design cycle.
