The 2nd STAR-CD User Group Meeting took place on the 7th of February 2005, at Le Meridien Hotel, Bangalore organized by CSM and CD-adapco.

The conference was well attended by over 75 national delegates, including CD-adapco guests, Dr Riaz Sanatian, Director of Project Management and Development, and Didier Halbronn, Vice President of World Wide Sales.

The program began with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by a welcome speech by GSS Srikanth, CEO of CSM Software. Riaz Sanatian then gave a presentation on the latest features of the STAR-CD suite of products and followed it up with a presentation explaining the Product Roadmap and the future strategy of the company. This presentation was very well received by the delegates. Didier Halbronn followed this with a review of the Industry Drivers and Market Dynamics in the Indian marketplace.

The conference also saw 9 application presentations from users, covering various disciplines from users like GTRE, BARC, IISC, INFOSYS, IAT, IIT Chennai and IGCAR.

Two awards were presented for the best papers; namely Mr. S. Ganesan from GTRE for his paper titled "COLD AND HOT FLOW ANALYSIS IN AN AFTERBURNER OF GAS TURBINE ENGINE & Mr U Parathasarthy of IGCAR for his paper titled "THERMAL HYDRAULIC STUDIES FOR PFBR USING STAR-CD"

Overall, the conference was a great success, allowing users to interact and present their successful applications of STAR-CD. The unanimous feedback from all concerned is that next year the Indian UGM should expand to allow more users to take part.
