On June 1 and 2, 2009, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) will sponsor a workshop on Computer Methods for Cardiovascular Device Design and Evaluation at the Hilton Hotel in Rockville, MD. This workshop furthers FDA’s Critical Path Initiative (http://www.fda.gov/oc/initiatives/criticalpath/), and intends to address scientific barriers in computer modeling of cardiovascular devices. We hope that bringing together leaders and researchers from the academia, medical device industry and regulatory agencies will promote novel computer modeling methods that could be employed for the design, development and evaluation of cardiovascular medical devices. In the very near future, we will issue a call for abstracts for both posters and presentations. We are looking for a variety of topics in the field and hope you consider contributing to the meeting. Information about registration for the meeting will be provided as it becomes available.
