March 7, 2005 CFdesign Implementation Services Group to Help OEM’s Expand, Standardize Role of Upfront CFD
Blue Ridge Numerics, the fastest growing CFD company in the world, announced today its formation and initial deployment of the CFdesign Implementation Services Group. The Group, based at the company’s corporate headquarters, is committed to helping clients produce a rapid and sustainable ROI by fully leveraging CFdesign upfront in the product design process.
The CIS Group provides customers with high-value services supplied by highly experienced engineers with proven track records in MCAD/MCAE usage, product development, design validation, and CFD.
“This is an exciting time for our company,” stated Blue Ridge Numerics president, Ed Williams. “We continue to develop the Upfront CFD market by introducing hundreds of companies every year to this powerful technology. Concurrently we are seeing the maturation of our early adopter customers. Great companies like ITT Industries, Northrop Grumman, Parker Hannifin, and United Technologies now possess their own vision for Upfront CFD and they are systematically expanding their implementation of CFdesign across multiple divisions and product groups. Our new CIS Group will serve these companies with a number of tactical and strategic resources to insure our customers realize their vision.”
Services Immediately Available from CIS Group include:
On-site Customized Introductory Training An economical means to training entire engineering teams while better equipping them through a tailored instruction experience that includes: + the preparation and use of customer geometry + simulation techniques that are specific to customer applications
On-site Advanced Training A common myth is that Upfront CFD is low-end CFD. In reality CFdesign contains advanced flow and thermal functionality that, with a little extra training, can be used on an on-demand basis by mechanical engineers. The CIS Group will help engineers confidently use: + the Motion module for turbo and translating machinery + the Advanced module for Compressible flows + the Advanced module for Natural convection + Advanced MCAD geometry-creation techniques + Advanced visualization/post-processing techniques
Best Practice Development A common concern among management is how to insure all members of the team have equally developed skills and access to a standardized knowledge base.
The CIS Group addresses this concern by partnering with the customer to develop and document customer-specific “best practices” and then training all members of the team to leverage this resource. All documentation is developed in a “quick read” format that features clear, easy-to-follow, unambiguous communication.
Project Work When time or human resource restrictions will not allow a customer an opportunity to use CFdesign on a project, the CIS Group can serve as a project resource to generate simulation results for each candidate design variation.
Consulting The CIS Group can also be employed as product development consultants. In this scenario, we go beyond simply running simulations and apply the full scope of our engineering expertise to assist in the development of an optimal product design. A member of the CIS Group can temporarily locate at the customer site to maximize participation in the process.
Short-term Engineering Placement Every now and then a customer may lose a valuable team member or the volume of project work may exceed what can be done by the current team. The CIS Group can supply a full-time engineer to work on-site and fill the void, insuring projects stay on track while permanent candidates are considered.
“Customer success is the ultimate objective of our business,” Williams explains, “and the CIS Group will help redefine success for major OEM’s around the world.”
