London, UK - Advanced Design Technology Ltd. (ADT), a leading turbomachinery design software company, announces the release of its latest software version, TURBOdesign Suite 2024.2, which includes a range of new features and enhancements aimed at improving the efficiency and automation of the turbomachinery design process.
TURBOdesign Suite 2024.2 can quickly solve complex turbomachinery problems using advanced machine learning and our unique 3D inverse design method. It combines these with an accurate modelling system, Reactive Response Surface (RRS), and integrates automatically with Ansys CFX and Siemens STAR-CCM+. The modelling system needs only a few geometries to produce accurate results, while the automatic integration handles the mesh creation, running, and post processing of the CFD data. This setup allows challenging multi-point problems to be solved in less than 24 hours on a 36-core workstation.
This new release brings together all the major functionalities of TURBOdesign Suite to tackle these complex multi-point, multi-objective problems in turbomachinery design. The unique machine learning system for solving difficult multi-point and multi-objective problems is based on 3 key features of TURBOdesign Suite:
1. The unique functionality of the 3D inverse design method to parameterise the 3D blade shape with very few parameters while maintaining key design objectives such as flow rate and specific work. Hence enabling the generation of accurate surrogate models,
2. The unique Reactive Response Surface (RRS) which by intelligently adding points in the design matrix in an iterative manner can achieve very high accuracy surrogate models with small design matrix,
3. The automatic coupling of RRS with the CAE software such as Ansys CFX and Siemens STAR-CCM+ enables automatic calculation and post processing of the CFD data at multiple operating points.
The 2024.2 release also has a number of other new features and enhancements including support for high-temperature heat pumps with 3 stages and new functionalities in TURBOdesign Volute with more choices in the shape of volute cross section and additional functions in control of the splitter for double volute.
Furthermore, the range of application of CAE integration is further enhanced to include mixed flow compressor, mixed flow pump and axial pump.
“TURBOdesign Suite 2024.2 lays down the foundations for the creation of a powerful machine learning system for high fidelity design of all types of turbomachinery in order to solve difficult multi-point and multi-objective problems rapidly ,” said Professor Mehrdad Zangeneh, Founder and Managing Director of Advanced Design Technology Ltd.
