The MSc programme in Applied Mechanics is a combined programme of solids and fluids. Students can choose to take only solids courses or only fluids courses. The fluids courses include:
Mechanics of solids and fluids, Turbulent flow, Computational fluid dynamics, Compressible flow, Turbulence theory, Heat Transfer, Turbulence modeling, Project in applied mechanics, Gas turbine technology and Multiphase flow.
We encourage students to also take solids courses. Suitable solids courses in the first year are Rigid body dynamics, Finite element applications and Material mechanics.
The MSc project can be either 20 weeks or 40 weeks; in the latter case, the course programme is reduced by 20 weeks. A 20-weeks project is usually carried out during the spring of the second year, but it can be started earlier (e.g. in summer/autumn of the second year). The MSc project can be done at the Department, in the industry (in Sweden or abroad) as well as at a research institute (in Sweden or abroad).
