WILSONVILLE, Ore., June 2, 2016 – Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced the call-for-entries for its first annual FloEFD™ Frontloading Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Award. Frontloading CFD refers to the practice of moving CFD simulation early into the design process, enabling design engineers to examine and evaluate design options, resulting in optimized product performance and reliability. All entrants must be a user of the Mentor Graphics® FloEFD product, the award-winning, full-featured 3D computational fluid dynamics analysis solution. A panel of expert judges will review the submissions and select a final winner and two runners up, who will receive cash prizes and a plaque. Mentor Graphics will announce the winning entries in September 2016. The completion is open now and the submission deadline is June 30, 2016. To enter, visit the website: http://go.mentor.com/4zkhc
Frontloading CFD Award Submission Criteria:
All entrants must demonstrate the clear application of frontloading CFD using the Mentor Graphics FloEFD product. Preference will be given to entrants who can submit quantifiable results to demonstrate the improvement in applying frontloading CFD methodology. Submissions must be in the public domain and disseminated to the public within the last 12-months of the nomination deadline. All entrants must have authorization from their organization to apply, and multiple entries are allowed for different projects. Entries must be submitted in full, and include all supporting materials to validate the impact of FloEFD adoption. This can include published papers, conference papers, PowerPoint presentations, website content, videos/animations, and published articles.
“We are recognizing the impact of the frontloading CFD methodology to the industry with this new awards program, since applying our FloEFD technology can reduce simulation time by as much as 65 to 75% compared to traditional CFD tools,” said Roland Feldhinkel, general manager of Mentor Graphics Mechanical Analysis Division. “The industry will realize how design engineers are developing their latest products using CFD to get to market faster, more profitably, and with dramatically improved product development.”
