Fluent's Fluid Mechanics and CFD Review Course
This two and a half-day course is intended for those users who are new to CFD and who need an introduction (or re- introduction) to fluid mechanics, heat transfer and computational fluid dynamics.
Date: May 31, 2006 - June 2, 2006
Location: Fluent Inc., Lebanon, New Hampshire, United States
Web Page: http://www.fluent.com/worldwide/usa/support/training/fluid_cfd.htm
Organizer: Fluent Inc.
Softwares: FLUENT
Type of Event: Course, National

Description:

This two and a half-day course is intended for those users who are new to CFD and who need an introduction (or re- introduction) to fluid mechanics, heat transfer and computational fluid dynamics. The goal is to make you more successful at CFD by having a more thorough knowledge of the underlying physics and numerical techniques in our software. It is assumed that participants have a technical education and background, but not necessarily an engineering degree. The course consists of lectures only. The topics are covered in a general fashion with no particular bias towards any CFD software package.

The first day is a review of the governing equations and non-dimensionalization, boundary layer flow, internal/external flows and heat transfer. The second and third day focus on a review of CFD techniques, including how the governing equations are discretized, appropriate boundary conditions, overview of solution methodologies (including finite difference, finite volume and finite element techniques), domain discretization and meshing considerations, equation solvers, turbulence modeling, postprocessing and case studies. These concepts will be summarized and illustrated via several case studies. Detailed agendas for days 1 through 3 are available.

The cost for the two and a half-day course is $1750. Please note, Fluent reserves the right to cancel a class, with notice, if there is insufficient interest.
