CFD2005: 4th International Conference on CFD
This conference will focus on the application of CFD in the oil and gas industries, metal production, mineral processing, power generation, chemicals, food and other industries where technologies often involve challenging aspects such as multiphase flow, combustion, phase change, non-Newtonian flow and other multi-scale phenomena.

Organizer: SINTEF, NTNU, CSIRO
Deadlines: December 6, 2004 (abstract)
Type of Event: Conference, International

Description:

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), SINTEF and CSIRO are pleased to announce the first of this series of international conferences that is organized in Norway. Previous conferences have been organized in Melbourne, Australia. This conference will focus on the application of CFD in the oil and gas industries, metal production, mineral processing, power generation, chemicals, food and other industries where technologies often involve challenging aspects such as multiphase flow, combustion, phase change, non-Newtonian flow and other multi-scale phenomena.

Scope:

CFD 2005 aims to

  • Explore the breadth and application of CFD modeling in the process industries
  • Identify and report on emerging CFD capabilities and applications
  • Identify limitations in the existing CFD capabilities and validation sources
The conference aims at promoting and advancing the application of CFD which is currently proving an invaluable tool in the design and optimization of equipment and processes in these industries. The program will present papers on a wide variety of applications including multiphase flows in oil and gas transportation and processing, minerals applications, pulping and paper, separation technologies, metal production and casting, steel making, fluid beds, smelting, furnaces, slurries, crystallization, stirred tanks, granular flow and many others.

Keynote lectures:

  • Prof. Bjørn Hjertager, University of Aarhus: Reactive gas solids flows
  • Prof. Wei Shyy, University of Florida: Simulation of multi-material systems
  • Dr. Ferit Boysan, Chief Operating Officer Fluent Inc: CFD - Perspectives for the future
  • Prof. Johannes Kuipers, University of Twente: Lagrangian modeling of dispersed phases
  • Prof. Olivier Simonin, Institut de Mécanique des Fluides de Toulouse: Turbulent multiphase flows
  • Dr. Paul Cleary, CSIRO: Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics – Status and future potential
Deadlines:
  • Abstracts due: December 6, 2004 (sent at abstract@cfd2005.com )
  • Papers due: February 15, 2005 (sent at paper@cfd2005.com )
