The TSFP series of symposia was initiated as a successor to the Turbulent Shear Flows
(TSF) meetings that were held biennially from 1977-1997. The first and second symposia in
the TSFP series were held, respectively, in Santa Barbara in 1999 and in Stockholm in 2001.
Both attracted over 300 participants and were highly successful. TSFP aspires to become the
premier series of conferences for exposing new discoveries and developments in turbulence
and shear flow phenomena, with emphasis on fundamental issues and mechanisms.
