Description:

The 33rd AIAA Fluid Dynamics Conference is being held in conjunction with the 16th AIAA Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference to enable close synergism and interaction between a broad range of research disciplines in fluid dynamics. The Fluid Dynamics Technical Committee solicits papers covering all aspects of fluid dynamics relevant to aerospace applications. Topics may range from basic research and development to applied and advanced technology. Contributions are sought that describe novel experimental and computational methods, in-depth reviews and timely surveys. Of particular interest are interdisciplinary papers that bridge between theoretical, experimental, and/or numerical approaches, providing innovative concepts and analyses, and new insight into flow physics. Technical program topics and categories involve experiments, computation, and modeling, in all areas of steady and unsteady compressible and incompressible flows in all speed regimes. Specific appropriate topics include, but are not limited to:
  • Aeroacoustics
  • Bio-Fluid mechanics
  • Biomimetics and Biologically Inspired Aerodynamics
  • Chemically reacting flows
  • Convective heat transfer
  • Design methods (including airfoil and vehicle design)
  • Experimental methods (including flow diagnostics, visualization, and instrumentation)
  • External aerodynamics (including store separation, missile aerodynamics, complete vehicle flows, and sonic boom)
  • Flow control
  • Fluid mechanics of material processing
  • Fluid structure interaction
  • Free shear flows
  • History of fluid mechanics/aerodynamics
  • Hydrodynamic stability and transition
  • Hypersonics and rarefied gas flows
  • Internal aerodynamics (including rotating machinery)
  • Laminar, transitional, and turbulent boundary layers
  • Microfluidics and MEMS-based flow control
  • Mixing
  • Multi-phase flows
  • Shock wave/viscous flow interactions
  • Turbulence
  • Unsteady flows
  • Vortex dominated flows
  • Vortex dynamics
