Description:

Description:

The discipline of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) involves the analysis of fluid flow and related phenomena such as heat and/or mass transfer, mixing and chemical reactions using numerical solution methods. Due to the rapid advances in CFD and the potential it provides to analyse, on a fundamental basis, systems of considerable interest to the chemical engineer, it can be anticipated that the importance of CFD as a "workhorse" for the chemical engineering community will rapidly increase in the near future. With this course we intend to provide basic knowledge to chemical engineers regarding the foundations, current capabilities and limitations of CFD in the context of chemical engineering applications. Due to its relevance to many industrial applications the emphasis will be on multiphase flows. The course includes computer sessions in which flow simulators will be used to solve practical fluid flow problems.

Lecturers:

  • Professor J.A.M. Kuipers, University of Twente, Holland and
  • Professor Bjørn H. Hjertager, Aalborg University Esbjerg;
ECTS : 4
