Description:

Pump companies use CFD flow simulations to achieve different goals – for instance, to troubleshoot poor performance of existing pumps, to validate the performance of already-defined designs, or to predictively explore the performance associated with new design concepts. But most pump engineers agree that the ultimate goal is to perform more simulations in order to discover better pump designs, faster as a substitute for slower and more expensive physical prototyping and testing.

Moreover, it is possible for CFD simulation to be used to predict pump performance under wide-ranging operating conditions, not only at the Best Efficiency Point (BEP). But meshing is often a significant bottleneck in the CFD workflow, especially for real, complete pump systems involving complex 3-D geometry directly from CAD. Such a bottleneck has the same speed- limiting effect as a governor on an engine – in this case, limiting the speed of innovation by reducing the number of simulations that can be performed during the short time available for a pump’s development cycle.

By participating in this webinar, you will gain a greater understanding of how to:

  • Simulate complex flow behavior in real, complete pump systems by using 3-D CAD geometry as-is – without needing to simplify your systems and introduce approximations which reduce the accuracy of your simulation results.
  • Get more simulation throughput by avoiding the common bottleneck associated with meshing complex pump geometry.
  • Rapidly set up and perform simulation-based design space exploration for your pump systems.
