measurement. It will also give a good understanding of
troubleshooting techniques enabling the engineer/technician
to locate and repair faults. The technician will be given an
understanding of the ‘standards’ for metering and how these
are achieved by regular validation, and what should be done
if an instrument should fail its validation. Each delegate
will introduce to the skills required and the sources of
material required to meet the standards of ISO. The trainee
will follow a step-by-step procedure to calculate the
uncertainty budget.

KEY BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
•	GAIN an understanding of ISO 5167 and AGA standards
•	IDENTIFY and become familiar with the various
methods of flow measuring instruments
•	LEARN way to carry out meter selection
•	EXPLORE the meaning of mismeasurement and what to do
when this happens
•	RECOGNISE the difficulties associated with shared
pipeline allocation metering

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is very much aimed at site personnel, especially
those already qualified as Instrument Technicians or
Supervisory Engineers wishing to extend their knowledge into
the field of liquid and gas metering, both for fiscal
purposes and custody transfer. This training is relevant but
not limit to
•	Instrumentation Engineer
•	Metering Engineer/ Metering Superintendent
•	Measurement Engineer
•	Measurement and Control Engineer

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
•	To discuss the major developments in flow
measurements for fiscal purposes.
•	What the law says about fiscal measurements.
•	Learn how to select flow measuring devices when the
choice is one from many
•	What is validation and how often should it be
