Looking to have a heat source in my model but this is a little difficult in CHTmultiregionfoam. Some have modified the solver to add Joule heating. But there is now externalWallHeatFluxTemperature in openfoam 2.3.
My idea is to have a void in the the mesh(an unmeshed volume not a region) that is effectively "outside" in the terms of the model but is inside a solid.. This should alllow externalWallHeatFluxTemperature to be used and thus provide a heating source in terms of heat flux. This is just an intermediate step in trying to learn how to fly this thing and study how the cavities and substances interact before developing "Honeybee" thermofluid general equations and of course a solver.

it didnt work ... now to try naming the void and then making the face have externalwallheatfluxtemperature

Cracked it ... a solid region inside a solid region with both both boundaries using externalWallHeatFluxTemperature with the heatflux having opposite signs in each region. The inner region chills as the outer region heats. Thus a fixed heat flow without modifying the solver!!!

Hello All,
I am trying to run a case of chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam based on the multiRegionHeaterRadiation example. My case has 8 solid blocks inside air. The air and blocks are inside a metal cabinet, and also touch the cabinet. The cabinet is in the atmosphere. When i run the case, the temperature diverges and an error comes up. I am not able to diagnose the error. Please help!
