During fluent process, it suddenly exits, i dont know why, could you please help me?

This is due to network card. This happen when network card is disconnected from the main LAN even for few moments.

but i dont use PC clusters and even a network card.
i have 4 processors in a single machine so i make paralel them with MPI .

You must have network card in your system otherwise Fluent wont install. Yeah I am also talking about the single machine with no. of processors. I have observed it for long time that whenever there is disconnection of my LAN card from main network, parallel Fluent stops to work. Two checks

1. Run parallel Fluent and remove network cable from your system.
2. Remove the Network cable and then start Fluent parallel. After this even inserting cable and again removing it does not affect the Fluent.

- i formatted the PC however the problem still continues.
- i dont think that it is related with ethernet card because internet and network connection is working without any simultaneous broken communication

Yes, it is solved !

The problem is that RAM couldnt correspond during importing mesh into fluent.

If RAM is not succesful to perform the instant process, MPI determines to finalize reading mesh or any process in Fluent.

I tried two single 4 GB RAM separately and determined that RAM is not working....

Total no of nodes are ?

5 million ----> 4+4 GB RAM

however one of the RAM card is defected.
So it doesnt give response while reading mesh ...

Rule of thumb, according to my experience, for Fluent 6.3 is:

1.2-1.4 million nodes with density based solver >>>>>>>>> 4 GB RAM

PS: I have no idea about Fluent 13 & 14, may be they have improved it

On the line, i find the same question with you.you say it was caused by the RAM,but can you tell me how do you solve it detailly?At the present, this make me feel so helpless.This is the prompt at the end of the
parallel computation:

This error can happen for several different reasons.

I'm starting to think it's the mpi just reporting there is something wrong...

From my case (when I got this problem):
First make sure your case works perfectly in the single thread (serial) fluent. Then save the case and data (which has marched a few iterations or (timesteps if unsteady). Then open the parallel fluent and continue running the case.

Hi Emerg, your post was really helpful. I was having the same error and my simulations were crashing. It turned out it was my RAM. I just upgraded to 32 Gb and one of the sticks may be defective as i downgraded to 16 and everythinng is working now.

Also, i requested support to ANSYS and they informed me, this error comes when there is a lost of license during the simulation.

Dear Far.
Can you please explain more.. What do you mean and how can we remove this kind of error ? On my system some time I use WIFI connection, Some time LAN and some time I remove the cable.. Do you mean we must connect the Internet throughout the simulation time or we can disconnect the Internet.. many of friends are reporting that it is just for RAM problem. anyone can suggest me ??
