Heat transfer and Fluid Flow Laboratory at Brno University of Technology, Brno, Czech Republic is actively searching for a dedicated and skilled individual to join our research group.
The laboratory is focused on both numerical and experimental research for academic and industrial projects in the field of spray cooling, heat treatment and compact heat exchangers.
We offer a fully-funded position for a motivated candidate to engage in the international CZ-US collaborative project titled "Multi-phase Heat Transfer from Porous Structure of Oxides Formed on Metals at High Temperatures".
It is a full-time 4-year position directed towards obtaining a PhD degree in the field of heat transfer and fluid flow. The student is expected to work mainly with open-source CFD code OpenFOAM.
The resources of the National Supercomputing Centre will be used for computationally demanding tasks.
Utilization of microstructure imaging technologies such as micro-CT or SEM is a part of the project, so a close collaboration with the digital imaging department is expected.
This project offers a stimulating challenge and a chance to contribute substantially to this scientific field.
Requirements:
We are seeking candidates with a master's degree in mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or related disciplines.
Strong interest and experience in numerical process simulations, preferably CFD with OpenFOAM or ANSYS-FLUENT or similar is necessary.
Basic programming experience in C++ and scientific computing tools like MATLAB or Python are highly valued. Experience with micro-CT or SEM technologies is a plus.
Fluency in either Czech or English is a prerequisite for this position.
This position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about advancing the frontiers of knowledge in heat transfer and fluid flow and possesses the necessary skills and qualifications.
