Description: |
A Ph.D. studentship ($2550/month + tuition) working with Dr. Jun-Hong Liang
(https://sites01.lsu.edu/faculty/liang/) at Louisiana State University is
available for fall 2024.
The student will work on topics related to idealized multiphase ocean flows using
large eddy simulations (turbulence, bubbles, sediment flocculation, gas transfer,
mixing, and dispersion) and/or realistic ocean physical/biogeochemical processes
in the Gulf of Mexico using the Regional Ocean Modeling System. The tools are
high-fidelity physics-based CFD models (Dr. Liang's group has more than 10
million CPU hours per year), data-based machine-learning models, and other
statistical models. At their later stage of Ph.D. study, the student may also
develop their own project that is within the field of physical/biophysical
oceanography using CFD.
Applicants must have research experience using a programming language (FORTRAN,
C, or Python) and good academic credentials.
If interested, please send a brief introduction of yourself along with your CV,
