Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of 
Hydraulic Engineering at Tongji University (China) in the area of experimental 
fluid mechanics or computational fluid dynamics with applications to multi-phase 
flows.  The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with Professors 
in Tongji University and University of Newcastle (UK). The research effort is 
funded to conduct experiments in wave flumes and complementary high-fidelity 
numerical simulations to better understand the wave-structure interaction and 
predict sediment transport. 

This is a 36-month research position in the Department of Hydraulic Engineering 
in Dr. Deping Cao’s research lab in experimental and computational fluid 
mechanics. Further appointment will be contingent upon performance and

Required Qualifications

- The successful applicant will have a strong background in experimental 
or computational fluid dynamics and turbulence, experience working with 
experimental measurements, and desire to work with and assist undergraduate and 
graduate students.

- Experience with prior software experience in OpenFOAM, Xbeach, SWASH, 
FUNWAVE or Delft3D is desirable.  

- A strong academic record as evidenced by relevant course work, publications in 
peer-reviewed journals and/or conference papers

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
