The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Göttingen, Germany, 
invites applications for several postdoc positions in fluid dynamics. 

Turbulence plays a very important role in many applications, ranging from 
geophysics and astrophysics to engineering. In our solar system, turbulence is 
often driven by thermal effect, rotation, and magnetic field. In this project you 
will use high-fidelity simulation tools, including direct numerical simulations, 
data assimilation, and machine learning, to study the physics of turbulence, 
focusing on convection and dynamos. Depending on the interest and qualifications 
of the candidates, the specific topic can be:

1. Turbulence simulations in the geostrophic regime.
2. Data-driven method for Navier-Stokes equations.

Candidates with experience in other topics such as particle-laden turbulence and 
bio-locomotion (flying/swimming in turbulence) are also welcome to apply.
