TitleHyperloop aerodynamics
CategoryPostDoc Position
LocationFrance, Toulouse
InternationalYes, international applications are welcome
Closure Date* None *
> We are looking for a Post-Doc fellow to perform numerical simulations of the flow past a hyperloop capsule.
The candidate will first address canonical configurations, i.e. axisymmetric bluff bodies in free flow and in a tube, in the incompressible and compressible regimes, from low to moderate Reynolds numbers.
These flows can be tackled using DNS, LES and DES (hybrid), hence the candidate should be familiar with these methods.
The work will then focus on the analysis (e.g. correlations, spectral analysis) of the flow to unravel the physics that drive wake instabilities and the resulting fluctuating loads on the capsule.
On this basis, control strategies for drag reduction/fluctuating loads mitigation will be proposed and tested numerically.
Finally, the candidate will participate in a companion experimental campaign.

> This project is conducted within a collaboration between ISAE-Supaero, IMFT and Hyperloop TT in Toulouse, France.

> The candidate should hold a PhD degree in fluid mechanics (or equivalent) and should be familiar with numerical methods including meshing (ICEM), DNS and LES (commercial and in-house codes), as well as post-processing tools for physical analysis.
Knowledge in experimental techniques is a plus.
EU citizens only.
