and support of the world’s most efficient commercial refrigerant compressors. 
The result is the world’s first oil-free compressor specifically designed for 
the HVAC industry.

The Aero-Thermal Engineer within the Research and Development team will be 
responsible for contributing to the detailed design and development of turbo 
machinery throughout the product development life cycle, from definition of the 
customer/product requirements to the product implementation and qualification 
phases. This position offers you the opportunity to apply advanced aero design 
to real world engineering challenges.  You will be a cross functional team 
member of the research and development team that develops and integrate 
technologies within turbomachinery, magnetic bearings, permanent magnet motors, 
and integrated power electronics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•	Converting market needs into aero and thermal design solutions
•	Detailed aero design (mainly centrifugal compression) including:
o	Utilize 1 Dimensional mean line code to design the preliminary flow 
path, Blade geometries, diffusers and volute and predict the performance of the 
o	Employ 3D CFD for aero performance simulations and aerodynamics 
o	Familiar with compressor unloading devices, e.g. inlet guide vane, 
variable geometry diffuser, etc 
•	Aerodynamic performance analysis and concept studies with new 
•	Collaborate with cross functional teams within product development, 
manufacturing engineering and procurement groups to ensure manufacturing and 
assembly feasibility
•	Deliver design documentation following project stage gates
•	Participate in new technology research and development projects as 

Education and/or Experience:

•	Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 
•	3+ years of working experience in advanced fluid mechanics (5+ years 
for senior)
•	3+ years of working experience in designing industrious centrifugal 
compressors (5+ years for senior)
•	Experience with commercial 1D mean line code such as COMPAL
•	Experience with commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code such 
•	Familiarity with CAD/CAE
•	Organization experience in product development engineering
•	Expereince with testing and processing test data is a plus
•	Strong team player with high focus on meeting deadlines and team 
•	Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
•	Must be detail oriented and self-motivated
•	Refrigeration system thermal cycle analysis experience is plus.
