Description:
Full-time PhD Student Stipenship in 2020/21 at the Dept. of Mechanical 
Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong.

Applicants shall normally hold (a) a Bachelor's degree with First Class 
Honours or the equivalent (e.g., at least Top 10% of his/her class) and/or a 
Postgraduate/Master degree in the relevant engineering/science discipline 
containing a significant research component & quality publication(s), such as 
a dissertation, conferred by One of Top Ranking Universities in his/her 
country; (b) fundamental knowledge in the area of thermal-fluid 
flow/combustion and reacting flows; multiphase and multicomponent complex 
systems with micro- and nanoscale; transport and formation of nano- to micro-
particles/aerosol pollutant in fluid flow; aerosol size distribution & general 
dynamic equations; method of moments; population balance equation, Monte Carlo 
method etc. using CFD, LES, DNS, FLUENT, CHEMKIN etc., and user defined/ 
developed advanced numerical codes in high-performance computing etc.

Applicants who have not obtained a degree of which the language of instruction 
was English from a recognised university are normally required to obtain: 

1.  An overall score of AT LEAST 6.5 (with score for the writing component 
at 6.0 or above) in the International English Language Testing System 
(IELTS); OR
2.  At LEAST 90 in the internet-based test (with a writing score of 23 or 
above)

All English language test scores are considered valid for three years after 
the date of the test.
