Hello all,

I am trying to create an animation in Tecplot and want to display the solution time. I read in one of the discussion forums to enter the following to display the time: &(SOLUTIONTIME).

My concern is that this has 15 digits after the decimal point. I do not want so many significant figures in the simulation time display.

Does anybody know a way to reduce this or a better way to display the time in the animation?

Thanks
Adnan

The Tecplot user manual is your best reference for this question.

For formatting dynamic numbers and text strings refer to Tecplot 360 manual located here: http://download.tecplot.com/360/current/360_users_manual.pdf page 247.

Cheers,
Scott

Thank You very much. That helped to solve the problem.

&(SOLUTIONTIME%.2f) is a good command to use.

If I understand your question .... Tecplot does not track the units of measurement for a given data set. For example if the velocity = 10, Tecplot does not "know" if that velocity is 10 m/s or 10 ft/min. It is up to the user to know the units, and direct Tecplot when labeling an axis, or performing additional calculations on the data.

Accordingly if time equals 10, that could be 10 years or 10 milliseconds.
