How to verify the solutions(e.g. flow.dat)?

I found that the output files (e.g. the flow.dat in Tutorial 1) are quite different when I set different value of -p 1, -p 16 and -p 32. Are there any specific methods (e.g. some nodes) to verify the output files? How can I know that I have achieved the correct sulotions or not?
