Merging .pst files in parallel run

Hello dear starcd-colleagues,

Could you please anyone one tell me how to merge .pst files (obtained form different processors) in parallel run? I am using star cd 3.26 version and my geometry has about 1 million cells. Thanks in advance.

The 3.26 installation has an OS command line utility mergepst. Enter mergepst at the command line & answer the prompts.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. I am sorry, I could not underastnd the method you mentioned. Could you please elaborate this little bit more. And also can you tell me how to merge the pst files while it is still running, if I want to check the results in between (before convergence). Thanks again.

Hi,

during the calculation you may enter the command "star -chkpnt" in the directory you started the calculation. The last saved post files on each machine will be merged in one post file in a new directory.

After the calculation:
In the directory:
/starcd/v3260/STAR/3.26.xxx/linux64_2.4xxx/bin
you can find a file called mergepst.
Copy this file to your directory where you started the calculation and start ./mergepst and answer the prompts as Pauli mentioned.
