Hello,
We can observe global residual for the variabels in STAR-CD. I would like to see residual of a particular cell in STAR-CD. What exactly I need to do it. Thanks in Advance. Sachin |

You need the command RESDATA. The second parameter enables whole field residual values to be written at regular intervals.

Thanks for the reply. After using RSDATA in pre processing, I am able to store residuals for cells at intervaled iteration.
But How I have to extract those data in post processings. I can load .ccm file, buth then which command I have to use? |

In star 3.26 it is using the TRLOAD command.
For other version s the help should cover how to read it. The residuals are written to a file with the same format as a transient file. |

Hi James, Thank you for the reply. Actually after using 'rsdata' command, these residuals for the cells are stored in .info file.

If you set the second parameter you can get whole field data which you can plot just like any other data.

I set scond parameter to be 10 means residuals will be stored after interval of 10 iterations.
Actually what is being stored is not residual for particular cell, it is number of cell locations which has highest residual and we select these number of cell locations while setting first parameter for resdata. STAR-CD manual tells that residuals are stored in star.ccm files, but how to get it. I used command, load,,,residue_n (n is data set number), but still can not get it . it shows some error. I am interested in looking residual for any cell in computataional domain and I have 25000 cells. Please kindly focus on the same. Thanks in Advance. |

The steps I suggested work just fine on 3.26. You would appear to be using 4.x I suggest you contact user support if you are getting an error message.
