Hi,
I got a comment from a reviewer saying: With RANS models, it is widely known that the estimate of Fv is notoriously inaccurate for turbulent flows. What care did the authors take to ensure the fidelity of this estimate? I don't understand why RANS model is inaccurate in computing wall viscous force? Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks so much! |

Is it really that inaccurate! The answer is also dependent to the description of accuracy.
There are many parameters on the subject... Here is a sample Rans result with OpenFOAM against the viscous resistance of the suboff submarine model's experimental data (red line) below. It's accurate enough for me. ![]() Last edited by mzzmrt; April 12, 2021 at 06:30. |
