Hello guys,
I am new user in OpenFoam. I need to import the Gambit file or Fluent mesh to OpenFoam. I used the fluentMeshToFoam & gambitToFoam command , but I got this error. Can anybody help me? To be clear, I save the .msh & neu file in ASCI format. but I have some interior boundary ( not interior wall...I used it for making the Mesh). Is it problem? does OF know the interior boundary....I dont want OF to convert it to wall boundary. /*---------------------------------------------------------------------------*\ | ========= | | | \\ / F ield | OpenFOAM: The Open Source CFD Toolbox | | \\ / O peration | Version: 1.6 | | \\ / A nd | Web: www.OpenFOAM.org | | \\/ M anipulation | | \*---------------------------------------------------------------------------*/ Build : 1.6-f802ff2d6c5a Exec : gambitToFoam test2.neu Date : May 28 2010 Time : 13:34:06 Host : ip11 PID : 28755 Case : /home/farhangi/OpenFOAM/farhangi-1.6/run/tutorials/multiphase/interFoam/laminar/test nProcs : 1 SigFpe : Enabling floating point exception trapping (FOAM_SIGFPE). // * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * // Create time Title: test2 Written by Gambit version 2.4.6 File written on 27 May 2010 16:36:04 number of points: 5100 number of cells: 5000 number of patches: 1 Reading nodal coordinates Reading cells Reading cell streams Reading cell stream labels Finished reading cell stream labels Reading patches patch 0: name: wall Finished lexing #0 Foam::error:rintStack(Foam::Ostream&) in "/home/farhangi/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.6/lib/linux64GccDPOpt/libOpenFOAM.so" #1 Foam::sigSegv::sigSegvHandler(int) in "/home/farhangi/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.6/lib/linux64GccDPOpt/libOpenFOAM.so" #2 __restore_rt at sigaction.c:0 #3 main in "/home/farhangi/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.6/applications/bin/linux64GccDPOpt/gambitToFoam" #4 __libc_start_main in "/lib64/libc.so.6" #5 _start at /usr/src/packages/BUILD/glibc-2.9/csu/../sysdeps/x86_64/elf/start.S:116 Segmentation fault PlZ Help me. thanks |

Hello Friends
I m new user of openfoam so i solved tutorial of OF. now i m trying to solve complicated problem. so the geometry is very difficult to construct in OF. so far i use gambit for making geometry. Right now i construct geometry in gambit & also I completed mesh in Gambit so now for processing & post processing i use OF. but i m in trouble how to convert .msh file of gambit in OF format? Which command will i use? gabitToFoam or FluentMeshToFoam? so please help me to solve this problem. i m waiting 4 ur reply |

What about fluent3DMeshToFoam ?
I have no personal experience (sorry), but maybe fluent3DMeshToFoam is the better solution to convert your .msh to Openfoam. If I am not wrong fluent3DMeshToFoam is the latest devoloped converter |

if you don't generate a mesh with hanging nodes (tetra-hexcore), then you can use fluentMeshToFoam
if you generate a mesh with hanging nodes (tetra-hexcore), you need to convert some cells with utility tpoly (not OF utilty, but Fluent utility), then you can use fluent3DMeshToFoam
