Do you know which books are good and authoritive on numerical methods on coastal/ocean flow modeling? Or, some classic articles? I am looking for some good ones for fundmentals.

I saw a rather large book in our bookshop a while back - it was a bundle of many Academic papers centering around Coastal/Ocean flow modelling - with a large portion devoted to cfd. I do not remember the name, by was extremely impressed by its content. It was a little outside my area of specific interest at that time. Local price was around USD 300.

It was published around 2 years ago. Sorry, that's about all the lead I can give at the moment. If you're still looking in around a month's time, I'll look again when Uni begins & let you know the name.

"Introduction to Physical Oceanography" (1996) George L. Mellor

Published in paperback by The American Institute of Physics press.

It appears to be a storehouse of fundamental analyses of observed phenomena starting from first principles. There are lots of simulation solutions, but not much material between the governing equations (NS eqns specialized for the particular problem at hand) and the graphically-presented solutions. In other words, not a lot of obvious CFD material.
