Hi, I wonder if anyone knows how to obtain the time-averaged phase volume fraction of a certain amount of simulation time for the unsteady case from FLUENT. I appreciate your help. Thanks.

I'm not sure, so please check. I think fluent has an option called 'data sampling for time statistics' or something.

Hi, I tried 'data sampling for time statistics' but I did not see any option for the time-averaged volume fraction after I run the simulation. Thanks for your reply.

Select 'data sampling for time...' option in iterate panel of unsteady calculation. Run the calculation. Then while postprocessing, you will be able to select 'unsteady statistic' option in a drop down listbox of contours or vectors or xy plot etc panel. With that, you would see mean velocity, mean volume fraction and also the mean rms values.

Hi us, I wonder if we can start time-averaging the data after certain amount of time. For example, I would like to time-average the data only after 10 sec in the simulation up until 60 sec. Thanks for your reply.

Certainly you can do that. Initially don't select 'data sampling..' option. Calculate until first 10 sec end. Select 'data sampling..' and continue calculation until the time you want. Doing that, mean values doesn't account for first 10 seconds results and I think, that is what you want to do. -US
