Is there any way in Fluent 6.0 to use the data from one case as the starting point for another case without reading the data file? I am trying to keep my data file size as small as I can.

Yes. Use File --> Interpolate. First write an interpolation file from the existing data, then for the new case read that interpolation file back in.
