hello,
This is regarding Marangoni stress. In the Fluent guide, it is given that "The Marangoni Stress condition allows you to specify the gradient of the surface tension with respect to temperature at a wall boundary". My question is " Can we specify Marangoni stress anywhere in the flow field or only at the solid boundary?" If yes. How can we do that in the fluent? any help would be appreciated regards |

Marangoni Stress has nothing to do with solid boundary. This is about variation in surface tension due to temperature and/or species concentrations. Surface tension acts at the interfaces of gas-liquid or immiscible liquid-liquid systems. Whether there is a solid boundary around it or not, has no effect on it. However, the wall adhesion does get affected by the change in surface tension values. So, the region of applicability is free-surface.
